Connector ยท Grist

Your Grist documents for your AI assistant, changed only when you approve.

PrivacyFence connects an AI assistant to Grist so it can find your documents and tables, read records after you have reviewed them, and add or change records, tables and columns only with your approval. It works with docs.getgrist.com, team sites and self-hosted Grist. Nothing it does deletes anything.

What the assistant can do

List straight away, read after review, change after approval.

Every Grist tool has a gate fixed in code. The Tools reference lists each one.

Without a card

Your documents, and each document's tables and columns. The call is still audited.

Reviewed before release

The records of a table, optionally filtered and sorted. A large table is read page by page, and you see exactly which records each page would release.

Needs your approval

Adding records, changing cells, creating a table and adding columns. The card shows the document, the server and, for a change, the old and new values. Nothing can be deleted.

Set it up

Connect with your own API key, or your organization's Grist sign-in.

  1. With a personal API key, create one in Grist under Account settings โ†’ Developer โ†’ API Key. Every Grist edition has one. The key acts as you, with your access to your documents.
  2. If your organization registered a PrivacyFence app in Grist, you sign in on Grist's own page instead. Your administrator sets that up once.
  3. In PrivacyFence's Settings page, enter the server address (docs.getgrist.com, your team site or your own server) and the key. You type them into PrivacyFence's own page, never into the AI client.
